APRIL 24, 2008 Nothing much new to report. I'm about to graduate and so I've just been mired in post-production on not only my own films but about five of my friends' films as well. It's been a busy semester. The screening of THE ISOLATIONIST went very well and I'm hoping it has a healthy festival fun. SOMBRERO will screen on May 3rd at Marion Knott Studios with the five other winners of the Location Filmmaking competition for 2007/2008. Also, you might notice that there's a new movie over there on the left. SLAPJACK is a little film we shot a few weeks ago on leftover stock from "The Isolationist." It's only three minutes long, but I'm hoping that'll get it some festival play. If not, there's always YouTube, right? FEBRUARY 29, 2008 THE ISOLATIONIST makes its premiere next week, March 7, at Marion Knott Studios. It will be screening with six other thesis films and it's going to be a great program.
JANUARY 19, 2008 THE ISOLATIONIST is featured in this week's Entertainment Weekly. It's a small blurb, but hey, it's there. In case you don't subscribe, click here to see the article. As if I don't have enough to do, I created a MySpace page for The Isolationist. Click here to check it out, watch the trailer, befriend it, etc. Also feel free to visit the YouTube trailer and rate/comment accordingly. Please, help me extend my fifteen minutes of fame into twenty or thirty additional minutes. Production on Sombrero begins tomorrow night at 11 pm. I'm really trying to swap my sleep schedule so that I crash during the day, but my body is rebelling against this plan. I guess I'm staying up all night tonight. We'll see how that goes. JANUARY 13, 2008 On Friday I received an e-mail from Entertainment Weekly - they're doing an article on Tiffany in an upcoming issue and they want to interview me regarding her involvement with THE ISOLATIONIST. This was pretty amazing news for me, especially since I've been reading Entertainment Weekly for about 15 years now. In light of this news, I registered a domain for the film, finished the trailer, and created a new website. I don't know when the article will be printed, but I'm hoping that I come across as interesting enough that they mention me more than once... JANUARY 9, 2008 iPod Nano! I won a contest for an iPod Nano, and I didn't even know I was in the running! I use a fabulous company called ZenMastering to master all my music, and Paul Abbott, the owner of this fine establishment, emailed me this week informing me that I was the winner of the iPod giveaway. A strange coincidence, given that I was just about to send him the score for THE ISOLATIONIST to be mastered. If ever you have mastering needs, I highly recommend ZenMastering. I can't promise you a free iPod, but I can promise you professional service an excellent results. In other news, THE ISOLATIONIST is picture-locked and sound design has begun. Everything is on track and I hope to have it 100% completed by the March 7th screening. Production on SOMBRERO begins January 20th. I'm excited by the chance to direct one more short before I graduate, and this one will be so much less stressful than all the others. Or so I think. I probably shouldn't jinx myself like that, but oh well. NOVEMBER 21, 2007 TIFFANY! TIFFANY (that's right, "I Think We're Alone Now") is co-starring in THE ISOLATIONIST! The film will be premiering at Marion Knott Studios on March 7, 2008, and will be doing the festival circuit shortly thereafter. A trailer will soon be available on this site and on YouTube. Check out the new official site for the film. Also check out Tiffany's official site. In other news, it looks like SOMBRERO will become a reality - last Friday my team pitched to the Chapman faculty and they greenlit the project, along with five other films as part of the Location Filmmaking competition. I feel pretty great about this, seeing as how I've set my sights on directing a Location film since first starting at Chapman at 2005. Now I just have to pull together a film in two months and make it good. No problem! Anyone out there own a Mexican restaurant that I can film in? A STARCHY WORLD screened last night at the International Student Film Festival of Hollywood. It's a new festival and the audience was fairly small, but I was impressed with their organization and overall I had a positive experience. Happy Thanksgiving! OCTOBER 2, 2007 THE ISOLATIONIST is in the can, and I am pleased. I haven't seen a cut of it yet, or even synced dailies, but from what I have seen it looks amazing. I hope people enjoy it! A STARCHY WORLD is in competition at the International Student Film Festival of Hollywood on Nov. 14, 2007! Click here for details. My short screenplay SOMBRERO made the list of the ten semi-finalists for this year's Location Filmmaking competition at Chapman University. If all goes well, I'll get to direct another short before I'm unwillingly unleashed into the real world. Stay tuned for updates. AUGUST 14, 2007 A STARCHY WORLD and TENURE will be screening at the LA Shorts Fest Filmmakers' Showcase. A STARCHY WORLD will screen Tuesday, Sept. 11th, at 9:45 pm. TENURE will screen Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 12:45 pm. Both films will be showing at the AMC Burbank Town Center 6. JULY 22, 2007 It's been nearly a year since I first read the script for A STARCHY WORLD, and I'm happy to report that the high-res, color corrected DVD is finally done. Which means the movie is done. Which means all the actors and crew can finally see the darn thing. I posted a trailer to YouTube, which you can see here. The DVD is also for sale for anyone interested. Pre-production on "The Isolationist" is moving along. Filming begins Sept. 14. We're still looking for locations, so if you know of an available apartment, or an office with lots of cubicles, or a hotel, or a restaurant/bar, let me know! JUNE, 2007 Hey look, it's a new layout. I got sick of the old one. Plus, I wanted to make a new logo. Currently in pre-production for my thesis film, "The Isolationist." I just submitted TENURE and A STARCHY WORLD to a bunch of festivals. CLEAN BREAK got into one in Switzerland, and they're even paying me for it! Check the film's site for more details. Go buy "The Politics of Photosynthesis" from iTunes! It's only $10 and most of the songs (including mine) are actually good! SPRING, 2007 New festival screening for TENURE: Delray Beach Film Festival, Mar. 13 - 18, 2007 New festival screenings of CLEAN BREAK: Durango Independent Film Festival, Feb. 28 - Mar. 4, 2007; Delray Beach Film Festival, Mar. 13 - 18, 2007 BARNACLES, my new instrumental album, is complete.
